International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day, Monday, 8th March 2021 is fast approaching. Each year we hold our biggest celebration of women and fundraising drive around the day.

We have a range of simple and impactful ways for your organisation to get involved. The funds raised will help us to continue to provide the vital services we offer to support women into employment, and offer our partners the opportunity to join us in supporting gender quality in the Irish workplace.

The fallout of Covid-19 has not impacted everyone equally, and it became very clear early on in the pandemic that women are bearing a disproportionate burden as a result. So, this International Women’s Day, join forces with us to support women across Ireland into sustainable jobs, improve their confidence and develop economic independence.

Can you host your own event or sponsor our flag ship event on Monday, 8th March. Can you ask your staff to donate their commute to help others on their journey?

How to get involved

1. Donate your Commute

Whether it is the cost of your commute for a day, a week or even a month, every donation to Dress for Success this International Women’s Day has a big impact.

Donating your journey can help others on their journey to economic independence. Dress for Success Dublin services provide the skills, confidence and contacts that our programmes, workshops and mentorships foster.

2. Host your Own Event

This year, we’re encouraging organisations across Ireland to hold your own ‘Pecha Kucha’ event, an opportunity for you to engage with your team on IWD 2021 and further the conversation on gender equality in your workplace.

‘Pecha Kucha’ means chit-chat in Japanese - it’s visual story telling which involves showing your colleagues, group or friends 20 slides with chosen images to covey your thoughts on a particular topic. Each presenter has 400 seconds (6 minutes 40 seconds) to tell a story with your visuals guiding the way.

We’re suggesting the topic of women’s journey to equality in the workplace, with the overarching theme of ‘#ChooseToChallenge’.

As part of your event, call on attendees to donate their commute – whether that is a day’s commute, a week or a month to DfSD here
