Briefing to focus on lessons from the UK on implementing gender pay gap legislation

– Dress for Success Dublin to launch cross-party parliamentary group on workplace equality –

A briefing will take place in the AV Room of Leinster House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2 tomorrow, Wednesday, 4th July, at 4pm, focused on key lessons Ireland can learn from the UK’s experience of implementing legislation to reduce the gender pay gap.

The briefing is being organised by a new cross-party parliamentary group on workplace equality, established by the Dress for Success Dublin charity, which helps women enter the workforce and establish sustainable careers.  Tomorrow’s event will serve as the official launch of the cross-party group.

Two UK experts on workplace diversity, inclusion and gender pay reporting will address the event:

  • Emer Bucukoglu of Innecto Reward Consulting, the largest independent pay and reward consultancy in the UK.  Emer has over 20 years’ experience in equal pay audits, salary surveys and pay benchmarking.  She will speak about international best practice; and what Ireland can learn from the UK’s experience of introducing gender pay gap legislation.
  • Hayley Barnard, Managing Director of MIX Diversity Developers, a consultancy that specialises in delivering diversity and inclusion audits and gender equality initiatives for workplaces across the UK.  Hayley will speak about inclusive leadership, the business case for diversity, and workplace equality success stories.

The event will be hosted by Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee, who chairs the new cross-party group on workplace equality.  Designer and entrepreneur Sonya Lennon – who founded Dress for Success Dublin – will also speak during the briefing, giving an overview of the work of Dress for Success Dublin and the organisation’s Equal Pay campaign.

A photocall to mark the launch of the new cross-party group on workplace equality will take place earlier tomorrow – at 11.15am at the plinth in Leinster House.

Media wishing to attend the photocall and / or the briefing event – who are not ordinarily based in Leinster House – must register in advance using the contact information below.
