This year promises to be one of the greatest in raising awareness about the achievements of women and gender equality in the workplace. International Women’s Day 2018 is all about celebrating and empowering women, and Dress for Success has been fortunate enough to be supported by over 40 companies in this celebration. Many companies are hosting panel discussions and events featuring Dress for Success ambassadors throughout Dublin on Thursday, 8th March – the perfect way to engage in real conversations to find real solutions to issues that continue to affect women in the workplace. This year, founder Sonya Lennon, CEO Angela Smith, and chairwoman Lisa Vaughan will be participating in these discussions put on by our wonderful sponsors!

Featured events on International Women’s Day, March 8th:

A Lovely Morning with Sonya Lennon!

Codec, the organisation empowering businesses with their leading IT consultancy, is hosting a breakfast discussion with our founder and director, Sonya Lennon. The event will take place in the Royal Dublin Society, one of Dublin’s most beautiful venues! Attendees will learn about the efforts of Dress for Success Dublin to empower women in the workplace, gain an understanding of Sonya’s motivation for success, and hear about Sonya’s own career path. With a passionate speaker and an exciting atmosphere, this event is sure to be one for the books!

Breakfast in the Boardroom 

Powerful women are empowering women in a panel discussion led by Sonya and hosted by Permanent TSB. Joining her are journalist Sorcha Pollak and Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee, creating an air of confidence and positivity while addressing key issues facing contemporary Irish society today.

Our returning headline sponsor, eir, is once again holding a panel discussion with Sonya Lennon. In addition to organizing a clothing drive, Irish Distillers, Ireland’s leading distiller of spirits and wines, will be hosting Dress for Success CEO Angela Smith in their Dublin offices. Angela is so excited to contribute to this event, and looks forward to speaking about Dress for Success’ initiative to promote the economic independence of women by providing career development tools and a support network. 

Taking the stage with IDA Ireland this year is Dress for Success chairwoman, Lisa Vaughan. As a management consultant and executive coach with 15 years of experience, Lisa is sure to bring invaluable advice to those attending the panel discussion. Hearing the story of one woman’s journey is enough to encourage a thousand more! IDA Ireland and Lisa are sure to hold a passionate discussion on women facing challenges finding success in business.

Photos Worth Smiling For

A picture is truly worth a thousand words! AIB is celebrating International Women’s Day by hosting a workshop for their employees on how to photograph confidently and “dress for success”! Lead by Sonya, the event will include her top tips on how to make the best impression. AIB is keeping the conversation flowing beyond this employee workshop at their Ballsbridge headquarters! Information booths will shed light on gender inequality in the workplace and issues women face as they attempt to enter the workforce.

Makeup, Hair, and Clothes, Oh My!

To end the night, BDO, Ireland’s only relationship-based accountancy firm, is hosting one of the largest events in support of Dress for Success and International Women’s Day! The employees of BDO are in for quite a treat. Two volunteers will be at the mercy of our lovely stylist and hair and makeup artist for professional makeovers. Sonya will be in attendance to lead the discussion on how to “Dress for Success”.
